Education Affinity Group
MAG’s Education Affinity Group will meet from Noon to 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the Woodward Hines Education Foundation, 2600 Lakeland Terrace, in Jackson. Any funders with an interest in improving educational outcomes in Mississippi are invited to attend. The proposed establishment of a funding pool to recognize and support innovative educational work in Mississippi will be discussed. The Barksdale Reading Institute will also present an in-depth look at its work across the state.
MAG Board of Directors
The next quarterly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Association of Grantmakers will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 8:30 A.M., in the Conference Room at the MSU/CAVS Extension Center, 153 Mississippi Parkway, Canton, MS. An agenda and meeting materials will be provided to MAG Board members in early January.
Community Foundations Network
The next quarterly meeting of the Community Foundation Network will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 2:30 P.M., at the MSU/CAVS Extension Center, 153 Mississippi Parkway, Canton, MS. With the 2019 Legislature in session, the primary business will be to review the status of MAG’s Endow Mississippi legislation to establish tax credit incentives for endowment gifts to community foundations. We will also discuss strategies to educate our legislators and the general public about the need for and benefits of this legislation during the session. Members of the Network are encouraged to contact MAG’s Program Team if they have other issues of interest for the agenda.
United Way Network
The quarterly meeting of the United Way network will be held on Friday, October 13, at 9:30 A.M., at the MSU/CAVS Extension Center, 153 Mississippi Parkway, Canton, MS. The meeting will discuss a proposed presentation to the MAG membership in January 2018, and the continued development of services to the United Way Network.
