Yumeka Burt Rushing
Yumeka Burt Rushing is a program officer at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s Jackson, MS office. Prior to joining the foundation, Rushing served as Gulf Coast policy advisor at Oxfam America. She also founded a consulting company, Yumeka Rushing Consulting, in 2008 where she worked with the Mississippi Access to Justice Commission, One Voice and the Mississippi State Conference NAACP. Rushing earned a Juris Doctor at the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University; a master’s degree in publishing from Pace University in New York City; a bachelor’s in English from Spelman College; and has also studied at the University of Birmingham, Birmingham, England.
