Kelly Butler is Managing Director for Policy & Partnerships for the Barksdale Reading Institute in Jackson, MS. She coordinates statewide literacy-related projects with which the Institute is linked. She is a member of the State Reading Panel, the Governor’s Task Force for Early Literacy Instruction, the Higher Education Literacy Council, and the Advisory Board for Southeast Regional Education Laboratory. Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from The University of Alabama and an M.Ed. in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University. She lives in Jackson with her husband Thorne. They have five daughters.
